It is a pharmacologically induced and reversible state of amnesia, analgesia, loss of responsiveness, loss of skeletal muscle reflexes, decreased stress response, or all of these simultaneously. Anaesthesiology is the continuity of patient care involving preoperative evaluation, intraoperative and postoperative care.
