Kenali Penerima Anugerah DAISY Kami bagi Ogos 2026
02 November 2026

Nursing is about more than clinical skills and expertise. It is also about doing good and having the heart to serve others. It calls for problem-solving skills, sound judgement, and genuine care for patients. These qualities are reflected in Muhamad Alfateh Bin Yusoff, our August 2026 DAISY Honouree and Senior Staff Nurse at the Wound Care Centre.
As the first hospital in Malaysia to introduce the internationally recognised DAISY Award, Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City celebrates nurses who make a meaningful difference in their patients’ lives. Affectionately known as Fateh, Alfateh was nominated by a patient’s daughter for the care and dedication he showed during her father’s recovery from surgery, helping to ease the family’s concerns.
When Hard Work Gets Recognised
Fateh has been part of the hospital for eight years. As the DAISY Award committee read out the nomination story, he actually expected it would be him. “I was half-surprised because I knew someone had nominated me for the DAISY Award. But I never expected to actually receive this honour in the first place. I’m really grateful, and I’ll keep this memory with me forever. I want to thank the patient’s daughter for nominating me.”
For him, this recognition also affirms the effort he has poured into his career. “I felt glad and relieved because receiving the DAISY Award showed me that my hard work had paid off. This award really means a lot to me,” he says.
Interestingly, nursing wasn’t Fateh’s first career choice. “Nursing was actually my second career choice after the army. But I’m glad and truly grateful to God that I chose nursing. It’s such a respected profession.”
Finding Balance Beyond the Hospital
Nursing comes with demanding working hours, and spending more time at the hospital than anywhere else can make it challenging to find time for personal life. Fateh recognises the importance of making time to rest and reconnect with family to maintain that balance. “We all have our own lives, but most of the time, we spend more time in the hospital than at home. To cope with this, I usually go on vacations, spend quality time with my family and get some rest,” he explains.
Beyond time with family, the people around him at work have also played an important role throughout his journey here in the hospital. He is especially grateful for the support and kindness of his colleagues.
“I’ve made a lot of good memories so far. The people I’ve worked with have been very supportive and lovely. They’re a big part of how I’ve made it through the past few years here. I’ll never forget the kind people around me,” he shares.

The Smiles That Keep Him Going
Fateh has always known that his calling is to do good and serve others. He sees nursing as a responsibility that he takes to heart. Nurses can also feel tired and exhausted, but for him, the smiles of his patients make it all worthwhile.
“It’s normal to feel tired and exhausted. But nursing is a responsibility we must take seriously. We want to give our best to our patients, and every time I see a patient smile, that’s what keeps me going,” he says.
Working in the Wound Care Centre also brings its own challenges, as the role calls for clinical knowledge and practical skills to support patients through recovery. Yet, Fateh describes it as a dream come true. “I feel happy being able to help my patients recover, whether they are minor or serious. It makes me happy to know that I can make a difference in their recovery.”
A Reminder to Keep Doing Good
Fateh believes that the good we do can make a difference, even when our efforts may not always be recognised. “Every action we take can make a difference, whether good or bad. I believe that our intentions matter, and good intentions can lead to positive outcomes,” he says.
"For me, the DAISY Award is not just an achievement, but also a motivation to keep going as a nurse. In our lives, there are good things we do that some people will appreciate, while others may not. But most importantly, I believe that God sees our efforts and will bless the good things we do."
Congratulations once again to Fateh on being our DAISY Honouree for August 2026! We thank him for bringing compassion, expertise and dedication to every patient in his care.
