Say Thank You to an
Extraordinary Nurse!

The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses

This ongoing recognition programme by The DAISY Foundation honours and celebrates the skillful and compassionate care nurses provide every day. Today, the DAISY Award is active in more than 7,900 healthcare facilities and schools of nursing worldwide.

Nurses may be nominated by patients, families, and colleagues who wish to recognise exceptional nursing care. All nominations will be blinded and scored by a committee based on predetermined criteria. The DAISY Honouree is then selected and recognised publicly with a ceremony.

Every nominee is valued and recognised, and will receive a copy of their nomination, a pin, and a note.

About The DAISY Foundation

The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the autoimmune disease Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura (ITP) in 1999. During his hospitalisation, they deeply appreciated not only the immense clinical skill but also the compassion shown to Pat and his family by his nurses. After his passing, they felt compelled to say "thank you" to nurses in a very public way.
