Sunway Medical Centre in Sunway City, the largest private quaternary hospital in Malaysia, is a Joint Commission International (JCI), an Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) International and Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH) accredited private hospital. It is the first private hospital in the country to be recognised with these three prestigious accreditations. Smoke-Free Hospital
Sunway Medical Centre is designated as a smoke-free hospital in order to create a healthy and safe environment for our patients, visitors and employees. We fully adhere to regulations set out by the Ministry of Health, Food and Tobacco Act, Occupational Safety & Health Act, and Factory & Machinery Act in ensuring all premises within the hospital remain smoke-free. In addition, the sale of tobacco products is not allowed in the hospital.
We are also a Blue Ribbon certified partner. The Blue Ribbon campaign was first introduced by WHO (World Health Organisation) to ministries of health as an initiative to support the WHO Framework Convention on protection from exposure to tobacco smoke.
Sunway Medical Convention Centre
The highlight of Sunway Medical Centre includes a convention centre – aptly named the Sunway Medical Convention Centre. The multipurpose hall seats up to 500 pax and has audio-visual linkage with two of the new operating theatres to enable live telecast of surgical procedures. Video-conferencing facilities are also available upon request.
International Services
At Sunway Medical Centre, we have treated nearly 80,000 international patient visits from 170 different nationalities, with the majority coming from Indonesia, China, Indo-China, Singapore, and other countries.
Ranked among the world's best 250 hospitals in 2024, Sunway Medical Centre provides extensive services through our International Patient Centre (IPC) to ensure a seamless experience for international patients. These services include appointment scheduling, tele-consultation, translation assistance, medical evacuation arrangements, transportation services, visa extensions, and many more.
In addition, Sunway Medical Centre also collaborates with several international insurance companies and Third-Party Administrators (TPAs) to ensure that patients can enjoy cashless services during their treatment.
Collaborations
- Sunway Medical Centre and Sunway University signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the University of Cambridge and the Royal College of Physicians (London) to establish a series of jointly collaborated Continuous Medical Education (CME) seminars. The first session of the RCP-Sunway-Cambridge Medical Seminars series took place on 28 April 2019, bringing in experienced specialists from other countries to discuss the latest trends and developments in various fields, including infectious disease, geriatrics, dermatology, and respiratory medicine.
- Sunway Medical Centre and Taylor’s University entered into a partnership as joint regional training institutions in radionuclidetherapy for cancer treatments. Taylor’s University was appointed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as a regional training hub to lead educational and clinical training programmes for medical physicists in Asia-Pacific. This grants them the usage of a state-of-the-art internal radiation dosimetry software and hardware, which are installed in Sunway Medical Centre's Nuclear Medicine Centre.
