Hospital Management Asia (HMA) Awards 2005 & 2008

SunMed Knowledge Management (KM) Portal is the Runner-Up Winner in the HMA Award

SunMed’s KM Portal won the runner-up award in the Hospital Management Asia (HMA) Awards 2005 under the Internal Service Project category.

As many hospitals are realising, simply implementing the technology and processes that enable people to share and communicate does not mean that effective knowledge management will happen.

Our approach, called the SunMed knowledge management portal, is aimed at facilitating knowledge sharing via eleven (11) Team Rooms and the Document Management System (DMS ) focusing on knowledge-sharing efforts in the areas where we can have the most immediate and measurable impact: the processes, procedures, or activities that employees confront daily.

This simple but yet innovative approach to SunMed knowledge management portal is based on our self-developed efforts via the Lotus Notes system. It was developed by a team of internal experts within the Sunway Group, thus meeting our cost containment objectives driven by our Top Management.

SunMed knowledge management portal also makes it possible to integrate knowledge sharing with training and providing reference materials. This breakthrough approach allows us to provide employees with a single, usable, and maintainable resource for everything that they need to learn and maximise performance in their jobs.

The Asian Hospital Management Awards recognises and honours hospitals in Asia that carry out best hospital practices. There were 249 entries from 84 hospitals in 14 countries vying for the awards.
