Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City has recently introduced Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG), a non-surgical, minimally invasive weight-loss procedure. The service is led by Dr Yong Karl King, Consultant Gastroenterologist & Hepatologist & Bariatric Endoscopist, together with our dedicated Endoscopic Team, providing a safe and sustainable approach to weight management.

Performed endoscopically without external incisions, the procedure reduces stomach volume by up to 70% using internal sutures, resulting in earlier and prolonged fullness. This helps patients naturally consume less food and achieve effective and sustainable weight loss over time. On average, patients may lose up to 17% of their total body weight within the first year. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia and has a high safety profile.

At Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City, ESG is delivered through a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach. Anchored by Dr Yong’s specialist expertise, the programme involves close collaboration with dietitians, endocrinologists, and clinical psychologists to support long-term weight management and optimise patient outcomes.

Dr Yong previously served as an Honorary Consultant Gastroenterologist and Clinical Lecturer at St Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College London, and brings extensive experience in bariatric endoscopy to Sunway Medical Centre.

Dr Yong is available for consultation from Monday to Saturday in Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City. To schedule an appointment or find out if Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) is suitable for you, please call 03-7491 9191 ext. 21619 or click below for more information.
