The service is led by Dr Yong Karl King, Consultant Gastroenterologist & Hepatologist & Bariatric Endoscopist, together with our dedicated Endoscopic Team, providing a safe and sustainable approach to weight management.
Performed endoscopically without external incisions, the procedure reduces stomach volume by up to 70% using internal stitches, resulting in earlier and prolonged fullness. This helps patients naturally consume less food and achieve effective and sustainable weight loss over time. On average, patients may lose up to 17% of their total body weight within the first year. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia and has a high safety profile.

- Clinic Consultation with Dr Yong Karl King: An open discussion and assessment of your condition, comorbidities, medical history, medications, expectations, explanation of the ESG procedure, and more.
- Dietician Review: An evaluation of your eating habits and weight trends, guidance on dietary plans before and after ESG, as well as body composition measurements.
- ESG Procedure: The procedure will be performed under general anaesthesia. You may be discharged on same day or admitted to the ward for monitoring.
- Follow-Up Care: Clinic and dietician follow-ups will be scheduled after the ESG procedure, as advised by the doctor.

Dr Yong Karl King, Consultant Gastroenterology & Hepatology and Bariatric Endoscopist, specialises in Endoscopic Bariatric and Metabolic Therapy (EBMT), with a clinical focus on non-surgical weight loss procedures such as Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) and Transoral Outlet Revision (TORe).
He previously served as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at St Mary's hospital, Imperial Colleague Healthcare NHS Trust, London and is currently a clinical lecturer at Imperial College.
