What this test for?
It is a diagnostic procedure used to investigate lumps or masses
Specimen & Container: Prepare two air-dried slides for each pass of aspiration and express the remaining material into an empty sterile container or in preservative fluid (which can be obtained from cytology lab upon request)
Transportation Requirement: Fluid in sterile container transported at room temperature, If delay is anticipated, refrigerate at 4ºC. Air dried slides can be kept at room temperature.
Test Schedule: Daily , if specimen is received before 3 pm for Monday to Friday and 11 am for Saturday
Method: Cytocentrifugation- Pap and MGG staining

What this test for?
To investigate diseases involving sterile body cavities (peritoneal, pleural, and cerebrospinal), and a wide range of other body sites.
Specimen & Container: Submit 20 to 50 mL of fluid in sterile container within 1 hour of collection.
Transportation Requirement: Room temperature , If delay is anticipated, refrigerate at 4ºC. * Exceptions include CSF and urine, which degenerate within one hour, even with refrigeration. Therefore should be sent immediately to the laboratory.
